PM Credits National Football Team’s Efforts in Maintaining First Place

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen praised Cambodian football players for their hard work in the SEA Games football match against the Philippines which resulted in a draw on the evening of May 2, 2023 at the National Olympic Stadium.

Cambodia's match against the Philippines took place at 7pm in front of 30,000 spectators, with Cambodia continuing to score only one extra point overall after a 1-1 draw. Cambodia's only goal was scored by Prey Veng FC’s Kirina in the first half. The Philippines tied up the score at the end of the second half with a point scored by No. 12 Carino Anthony Misael Santico. After the second Group A match yesterday, the Cambodian U-22 football team maintained first place with a total of four points, followed by Indonesia and Myanmar with three points each.

The Prime Minster went on to wish the Cambodian team success in the competition. The next Group A match will take place on May 4, with Indonesia taking on Myanmar at 4pm and the Philippines taking on Timor-Leste at 7pm while the Cambodian team takes a break.
